Campaign protesting against school bus strikes flagged

Mumbai 227 has called off its 'Make school bus strike illegal' campaign which protested the random strikes of the school buses by the School Bus Owner Associations which have completely interrupted the daily schedules of the Mumbaikars, both children and parents.

The transport strike had been called off but there is no assurance that the school buses will all run as per the schedule. Though the School Bus Owners Association had filed in response to a PIL that it would not call for another strike, it had failed to keep up its promise.

Mumbai 227 with advices from Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Ranjit More, it had asked that the school buses be included in the essential services maintenance act. ESMA.

A working committee member of the Mumbai 227, Zeenat Kachwalla had said that the strike was the second one in less than 6 months. He added that the calling off of the strike could merely be namesake as it is still uncertain whether the services will resume as usual. Such acts would only threaten the normal functioning of the city and hence should be restricted by bringing them under the horizon of ESMA.

Mumbai 227 had already been connecting with people using the internet, emails, SMS and gathering people in large numbers to support the campaign.
