Delhi Elections in Feb?

The Election Commission of India is likely to announce the schedule for Assembly Elections in Delhi this week. According to the sources, the elections in Delhi might take place any time around February second week or third week. As March and April months will be occupied with academic exams, the poll panel wants to wrap the election in the February month itself. These elections will be last for the head of Election Commission VS Sampath, who will be retiring on 15th of this month.

Delhi has 70 Assembly segments, EC wants to hold elections for all the constituencies in a single schedule and being the only state for polling, the election body wants to ensure ample of security arrangements are made. The major political parties targeting the Delhi chair have already begun their promotion and also announced their candidates.

Aam Aadmi Party is revealed the names of 70 candidates while Congress has announced 28 candidates. Out of them, eight legislators are the sitting ones while the rest are formers. BJP so far did not make any candidate name official and also did not start the election campaign.
