KCR shortlists candidates for 2 Rajya Sabha seats

Telangana Chief Minister KCR is maintaining mum on the 2 Rajya Sabha seats amid a growing clamour for nominations. The elections, reportedly will be held on June 11, if they are considered necessary.

The close sources say that, former minister Capt. V. Laxmikantha Rao, KCR’s friend and T-movement leader, would likely bang one seat.

On the other side, one of the senior party leaders said that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently requested CM, to spare one seat for a BJP nominee.

“It’s true there is talk Mr Modi and the Congress leadership reportedly approached Mr Rao for a seat. But CM garu did not commit. The CM wants to have two TRS members in the Rajya Sabha,” he said.

Namaste Telangana daily publisher D. Damodar Rao, government adviser D. Srinivas, TNGOs leader Devi Prasad and special representative in Delhi Dr S. Venugopala Chary are the others who are in the list to be considered for the upper house.

Retirement of Mr V. Hanumantha Rao (Congress) and Gundu Sudharani (TD, who joined TRS) made the two seats fall vacant.

Generally, the trusted aides of CM and party leaders, will be nominated to the Rajya Sabha. The routine is going to be followed this time too, shortlisting some of the trusted aides of the TRS party.

A decision regarding this, is expected to be out, in few days, probably on June 2nd, the state formation day.
