The police told the Delhi High Court that Gopal Kanda had met with Geethika Sharma when she was on her job in a leading airline in Dubai, UAE. They also alleged that he forced Geethika to quit her job at Dubai. Kanda had been absconding since Wednesday after he was mentioned in the suicide not of Geethika. He was charged with abetting the suicide of his now defunct MDLR airlines former employee.
The police had added that Aruna Chadha was also along with Mr Kanda when he flew to Dubai.
What makes the suicide more suspicious is her contract for the second time in the former Haryana minister’s company. It was mandatory for her to meet the minister every day after work and report to him. He was appointed his coordinator for the MDLR hotels. The police had alleged that this information was not stated by the former minister and Ms Chadha.
The suicide note Sharma had written before hanging herself at her residence in Delhi accuses Mr Kanda and a senior executive in his airlines Aruna Chadha. Her family however claims that they both have harassed their daughter driving her to commit suicide.
The first anticipatory bail in a lower court was rejected after which the petition was taken to a Delhi High Court. They had asked for a bail on the grounds claiming that the girl was hypersensitive and there was no harassment from Mr Kanda and instead she felt jilted.
Police have Mr Kanda’s laptop in possession with a hope to find a few stored emails which could unwind a few more coils in the twisted story.
