Worried Govt kneeling before Baba Ram Dev

Worried Govt kneeling before Baba Ram DevThe UPA Government, in a hurry to ensure that the Yoga guru Baba Ram Dev would not go ahead with his proposed indefinite fast on Saturday seeking steps to end corruption and bring black money back to the country, had held consultations with him today.

Senior ministers Kapil Sibal and Subodh Kant Sahay, after holding discussions with finance minister Pranab Kumar Mukherjee and home minister P. Chidambaram, went to the hotel where the Baba was staying and held consultations.

Earlier, addressing thousands of his supporters at Ramlila Maidan, Baba Ram Dev revealed that a consensus was emerging with the government on all issues barring one or two. The government is worried that the proposed fast of Ram Dev may snowball into a major trouble for the government and is hell bent on ensuring that he would not go ahead with his proposed fast.

Ram Dev made it clear that his proposed fast is in the best interest of the nation and no party or individual has sponsored the fast. “I am doing this for my country and people and not for any individual or political party,” he announced addressing the crowd.

Meanwhile, with the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh directing his senior cabinet colleagues to ensure that the Yoga Guru withdraws his proposal, Pranab Mukherjee and Veerappa Moily had cancelled their official tours and stayed put in the capital to direct negotiations with the Yoga Guru.
