Yoga Guru Ramdev launches protest at Ramlila maidan

Yoga guru Ramdev Baba had launched his second innings of protest at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi on Thursday demanding that all the Black Money should be restored to the country.

Ramdev was greeted by a vociferous and a warm welcome from the crowd that had gathered at the Ramlila Maidan as he arrived. He was earlier driven away from the same location an year ago when his revolution had caused a stir. Prior to his visit to the ground he had paid respects to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial in Raj Ghat.

He said that his protest was his expression of respect to Freedom Fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and 7,00,000 other martyrs who had put the nation beyond their lives. He said the present condition of the country which has been riddled with corruption and black money is an utter disrespect to their sacrifice.

In the second round of his protest Ramdev has decided to include Lokpal Bill in his agenda along with the retrieval of the black money. Other new plans in his agenda include the independence of CBI, transparency in the election commissioner, CBI director, CAG, CVC appointments.

Last year he was caught by the police at Ramlila Maida on June 6th in the midnight after he had violated norms that were agreed. He also tried to flee in a woman's attire but was caught by the police.

As expected, the anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare was absent at the protest despite his promise of joining the protests only a week ago. Anna had disbanded the team after they decided to enter politics with a political party but Ramdev has said that he had no motives to be involved in the politics and that he would plunge into a second phase of protest will be announced if the government does not agree to his demands on blackmoney, Lokpal Bill, appointment procedures and making CBI independent
