Voice Activated Google Glass

Medical students like to watch surgeries when the seniors take up on the operation table.  But how many can watch it?  Google Glass now brings out a solution for this problem with device with technical advancement.  It is a wearable computer like ordinary glasses and streaming of the operation will be done by the Google Glass that can be watched by the medical students sitting somewhere else in a more comfortable position than straining their necks peeping through the crowding colleagues.  Now what the operating surgeon looks at is watched by the students on a big screen in another room.

The device developed by the Google Inc is still in debate in the western countries about its utility.  But it was practically used at Chennai on Tuesday in Life Line Hospitals in two cases.  One was a gastro intestinal laparoscopy and another one was a hernia correction.  These two operations were watched by the students sitting three blocks away.

The senior surgeon Dr.J.S.Raj Kumar says that the streaming is easy to get accustomed to.  First he was having a feeling as if he was looking through a vehicle’s rear view mirror but after some time he says, he was so used to it that he started feeling the device as part of his body.  While he was operating upon, he could also explain the procedure to his students.  Doctors say that the students can literally see through their senior’s eyes.

Usages of the device are many, as Dr.Sai Satish of Apollo Hospitals says.  He says that it can be used to communicate with colleagues sitting at faraway places and improve one’s efficiency.  The device also can be used to view X-Rays and MRI images.  It can be used in many ways depending on the situation and imagination.

Doctors are in the opinion that the Google Glass is step ahead from Google Hangout which too was used for streaming.  They admit that people need to know what is happening behind the doors of the operation theater.

But still some doctors have reservations about it. They say that they have already used cameras to do the streaming and particularly the price tag of $1500 is making them hesitate to own it as cheaper arrangements are available.
