Telangana Appointment Day May Change Election Schedule

The Election Commission of India said if the Telangana Appointment Day is published in the Gazette the schedule of elections will be changed accordingly.

The Election Commission is going to announce Election schedule for the elections to be conducted in April and May in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim states for Loksabha and Assemblies.  In the above Andhra Pradesh for the time being is inclusive of Telangana region.  But if the state bifurcation is authenticated by the Government’s publishing it in the Gazette, the schedules presently in making are to be changed in the changed scenario.

AP Assembly completes its term on 2nd June 2014.   As the state division is approved by the two houses of Parliament, the state reorganization bill is at Rashtrapati Bhavan office pending President’s approval.  The moment the Government declares appointment day of Telangana after President’s approval, it is deemed as the state of Telangana has emerged.  It will be authenticated with its taking place in the Government’s Gazette.

As the Election Commission is going to release its schedule of elections within a week, the time left for the announcement of Appointment Day of Telangana State is limited to it.
