MPs, ex-ministers want more time

Over 90 members of Parliament and 22 former union ministers want more time to vacate from the official bungalow that is alloted to them in the national capital. According to officials report, MPs and ex-ministers are not willing to vacate the official bungalow and the deadline for them to leave the bungalow is June 26th.

The former leaders are putting pressure on the Central government through their contacts and Urban Development Ministry is responsible for vacating the bungalows and handing them over to new MPs and Ministers. Altogether there are 315 newly elected members of Parliament and currently they are residing at respective state's official bhavans. 260 MPs have lost in the recently concluded elections and they are not in a mood to move out of the official bungalow which provides them ample of choices and luxury.

The Central government has also booked 180 rooms for the newly elected MPs at various government run star hotels which is costing crores for the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is against allowing ex-MPs to stay at bungalows as he wants to cut the cost by giving them only flats.

Former Union ministers S M Krishna, A Raja, Mukul Roy, Kapil Sibal, C P Joshi, Dayanidhi Maran, Mukul Wasnik, Agatha Sangma, Sultan Ahmad, Murli Deora, Jaswant Singh and Shishir Adikhari are overstaying the government bungalows and are seeking more time to vacate citing health as reason.

Ex-chairman of UIDAI Nandan Nilekani, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and former union minister Murli Deora were given permission to overstay in the bungalows and they will have to vacate and hand over the bungalows to government in October this year.
