Cases against the Union Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde and Union Finance Minister Chidambaram under IPC section 420 are registered by LB Nagar Police following the directions received from the Ranga Reddy Courts.

Shinde and Chidambaram have one thing in common to attract registration of cases against them.  That is announcement on the Telangana issue.  On crucial occasions, they both announced a date before which a decision would be taken on Telangana Statehood as demanded by the Telangana people.  

Telangana leaders are in the opinion that the Ministers announced those dates only to lull the agitators.  A petition filed in the Ranga Reddy Court to charge on the Union Ministers for making wrong announcements to the people of Telangana with a view to deceive them.  As such section 420 which is meant for public cheating is charged on them, although it is a known fact that such charges do not carry any weight as it is evident from previous occasions and past experience.
