In addition to this, the State Government was equally blamed for encouraging illegal practices by issuing GOs every five years. The bench expressed its disappointment over the damage caused to the environment through illegal constructions. The court expects officers to look through every allegation related to illegal construction and get back to the court about its details, failing which the court will take an action. When the hearing took place, the bench quoted “On earlier occasion, the Court had directed the GHMC commissioner to deal with the menace of illegal constructions, but still the Court is flooded with pleas on the same issue. If that be so, why don’t the State government get rid of the commissioner when he is not implementing the law and failed to deal with this menace.” P Darshan and D Shivaji filed petitions addressing the issue against the authorities on failing to prevent illegal constructions at Badichowdi in Sultan Bazaar area and Gaddiannaram in Saroornagar area in the city.
