Maharajah's daughters inherit large fortune after battle

Daughters of the late Maharajah Harinder Singh Brar of Faridkot have finally inherited a large fortune. Properties worth Rs 20,000 crore are now in their hands after battling their Father's will in court.

After 31 years of waiting, the princesses were allowed to take control of the property. The Maharajah had left a will three decades back, allegedly leaving the fortune under the care of trust comprising his servants, officials and lawyers. Deepinder Kaur and Amrit Kaur were cheated of their rightful inheritance as the trust gave them peanuts as monthly income.

Maharawal-Khewaji-Trust

After 20 years of battle in court, the Chandigarh district court ruled that the will is a forgery and granted inheritance of the property. The Maharawal Khewaji Trust not only accused the daughters of not caring of the Maharajah, but also started making deals to sell the property.

Fortune includes gold, diamonds, two forts, three planes, an aerodrome in Faridkot, 300 acres of land, Faridkot House in New Delhi, Raj Mahal complex in Faridkot, Manimajra fort in Chandigarh, a museum and several buildings across India. The princesses are now in their 80s.
