Side-effects of consuming more multivitamins:- Consuming multivitamins or exceeding the subscribed limit of multivitamins has harmful side effects. While vitamins are essential for our well-being and for maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle, there are harmful side effects too.

Relying on multivitamins as a substitute for a healthy diet can create problems. Vitamins should only be attained by consuming healthy food rather than taking a tablet form.

Let us take a look at a few adverse effects of excess vitamin intake:

Toxicity of fat-soluble vitamins:

Fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K can lead to toxicity if consumed in excess. Vitamin A intake can result in symptoms like dizziness, and skin changes and in severe cases, excess consumption can lead to liver damage and can also cause bone pain.

Digestive Issues :

High doses of certain vitamins and minerals can cause gastrointestinal discomfort, mostly multivitamins like iron and zinc.

Kidney Problems:

Excess consumption of Vitamin C and D can raise the risk of kidney stones, which is very painful.

Interference with medications:

Vitamin K can interfere with blood thinners. We need to contact healthcare professionals before consuming some vitamins to avoid further complications.


Excess intake of B6 will lead to numbness and tingling, which are neurological symptoms.

Bleeding Risk:

High doses of vitamin E can interfere with blood clotting and also potentially increase in bleeding disorders
