Hyderabad Bags World Green City Award:- Telangana capital Hyderabad has won the World Green City Award 2022 in the category of 'Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth' at the International Association of Horticulture Producers World Green City award for the year 2022 that are held in South Korea's Jeju. The entries are invited in six categories and 18 finalists are zeroed in. The winners were announced on Friday. Hyderabad is the only city in India that bagged the World Green City award. Here are the shortlisted countries and the categories:

Living Green for Biodiversity: Columbia, Australia, France.

Living Green for Climate Change: Turkey, Australia, Mexico.

Living Green for Health and Wellbeing: Brazil, Netherlands, Australia.

Living Green for Water: Canada, Australia, South Africa.

Living Green for Social Cohesion: Argentina, South Korea, France.

Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth: Canada, India, Iran.

The Outer Ring Road of Hyderabad was submitted as the entry in Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth. Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) announced that this award is a testimony for the efforts and focus of the Telangana government towards green cover in the state. The program of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram received an outstanding response. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) called it a proud moment for Hyderabad which is the only city in India to receive the award. KCR congratulated KTR, Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and the staff of GHMC. He said that the state government is firmly implementing Haritha Haram and Pattana Pragathi programs in a strong manner.
