ED and IT raids on Kalvakuntla Kavitha:- As per the recent developments, the Enforcement Directorate carried out raids at the Hyderabad premises of BRS leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The search operation was conducted by a team of 10 officers from Delhi, with a significant presence of police officials near Kavitha's residence during the raid. Income Tax officials were also present at the scene along with the ED team.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha's name emerged in the Delhi excise policy scam investigation as ED uncovered her links to a 'south group' of liquor traders seeking to exploit the now-defunct policy for 2021-22. This is not the first time Kavitha has come under scrutiny, as she had previously avoided multiple summons issued by the agency.
The ED first approached the BRS leader in 2023 regarding her alleged association with Vijay Nair, the communication head of AAP. Nair was reportedly involved with business figures from the liquor industry and politicians in the development and implementation of policies. Kavitha was presented with written statements from her former chartered accountant Butchibabu Gorantla and associate Arun Ramchandra Pillai, who highlighted her interactions with Nair and others.
Butchibabu, who was arrested by the Central Board of Investigation earlier this year, disclosed in his statement to the ED that Kavitha had a political understanding with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. He noted a meeting between Kavitha and Vijay Nair in March 2021, where Nair allegedly tried to impress Kavitha with his influence over the policy decisions.
These revelations indicate a complex web of relationships and dealings in the political and business spheres involving Kalvakuntla Kavitha and other influential figures, raising questions about potential misconduct and conflicts of interest. The ongoing investigations by enforcement agencies aim to uncover the truth behind these allegations and hold accountable those involved in any illicit activities.
