Kerala Floods: 22 People Dead in Three Days

Kerala Floods: 22 People Dead in Three Days:- Over 22 people passed away in various incidents in rain-related calamities in Kerala. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed the news through a press conference. 315 relief camps have been set up across the state and over 22,165 people are living in these camps. The number of families rescued till date are said to be 5936. Wayanad has the highest of 9951 people in the camp. The water level of rivers like Periyar, Kuthirappuzha, Kurumanpuzha and Valapattanam have seen a huge rise.

The rainfall is said to continue for the next 48 hours and the government wanted people to be careful. The famous Alappuzha Nehru boat race scheduled for August 10 has also been postponed. Landslides and landslips have been reported in 24 regions. The state ministers have been asked to monitor the situation in each district. The water level in the dams too is monitored. Cochin International Airport is closed due to floods and all the flights are diverted to Thiruvananthapuram. Wayanad and Nilambur in Malappuram are the worst affected with landslides.
