Krishna Pushkaralu Expenses too high!

Huge amount of work has started for Krishna Pushkaralu which is going to commence from 12th August, 2016 and end on 23rd August, 2016. The expenditure is more than Godavari Pushkaralu. The state government is spending crores for the Pushkaralu. The previous year, it spent about `2,000 crore for the Godavari Pushkaralu.

Government has already sanctioned Rs 1,080 crore to various departments for this purpose. It released Rs 231 crore to the irrigation department, Rs 133 crore to the municipal corporations, Rs 80 crore to the tourism department, Rs 318 crore to the roads & buildings department, Rs 140 crore to the panchayat raj, Rs 136 crore to the CRDA, Rs 30 crore to the endowments department and Rs 10 crore to the municipalities.

Krishna Pushkaralu will be conducted in three districts - Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool. Of the Rs 1,080 crore, a sum of Rs 526 crore went to Krishna district, Rs 410 crore to Guntur district and Rs144 crore to Kurnool district. The departments are still sending fresh proposal for release another Rs 1,000 crore.

The main works being taken up are of constructing the ghats, laying of roads in cities and municipalities of the three districts, and works related to public health service, toilets, water supply and approach roads to ghats. The endowments department has taken up the renovation of temples in these three districts.

The department has estimated the expenditure for Krishna Pushkaralu at Rs 4,256.68 crore. Of this, Rs 2,178.82 crore is for Krishna district, Rs 1,330.30 crore for Guntur district and Rs 747.56 crore for Kurnool district.
