UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has spoken in the election campaign at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh said that some people are forced to choose the Naxal activity due to lack of development in the area.  

Sonia Gandhi said that the BJP Government under the leadership of Raman Singh has failed miserably in maintaining law and order in the State.  She complained that the State Government could not solve the problem of Naxalism in spite of the support extended by the Center.  

Sonia Gandhi said that the State has gone backwards in the BJP rule.  As observed by Sonia the measures that were taken to curb the naxal problem was only a mechanical eye washing thing but was not a serious measure on the part of the Government.  

Sonia Gandhi expressed her view that the moment a State is developed the naxal problem will automatically be solved.  She complained that the funds released for the welfare activities were not utilized properly.  The beneficiaries were deprived of the aid.  She promised that the Congress Government is not just to give assurances but it will do as it says.
