Debate On Food Security Bill

The AICC President Sonia Gandhi said today in the Parliament that the Congress party has kept up its promise made in the 2009 Election Manifesto by introducing the Food Security Bill in the Parliament for which she said she is very happy for the historic moment.

She said that the food grains will be saved from perishing through this bill as proper distribution will be ensured.  She also said that the farmers will be benefited with this.  She wished that no kid should be under nourished in India.  Only thing, as Sonia said, is making the distribution system in India strong.

K.V.Thomas whos started the debate on Food Security Bill today in the Parliament said that 67% of the people of India will get benefited with this bill.   He said that it is on the State Governments to identify the beneficiaries.  He also said that with the Bill the answerability of the Public Distribution System will increase.  He assured of supplying 7 kilos of food grains to each head of the family and a total of 35 kilos for a family if the Food Security Bill is passed by the Parliament.

The opposition party BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi called it Vote Security Bill but not Food Security Bill.  He questioned why the Congress party waited for four years if it is not so.
