The Election Commission banned Padayatras and other party propaganda 48 hours before the polling date.  

Today is the last day for the withdrawals of the nominations by the candidates.   After 3.00 pm today acceptance of the withdrawals will be over and that will enable the EC to declare the list of the candidates contesting for the Panchayat elections.  If a person files nomination for Sarpanch and also Ward Member and also wins in both, they will have to choose one of them resigning from other.

EC made some more announcements-

Single nominations received from 835 Panchayats and no nominations from 26.  As per the Court’s order, the Panchayats from which no nominations were received, a special announcement will be made for the elections in those Panchayats and will be held later.

EC said that Arjun Nayak Kadapa CI was suspended as he was found campaigning at Nallamada Mandal in Ananthapur District where his wife was contesting.
