Hyderabad is gripped with fervor while celebrating the Bonalu festival. The festive celebrations gained prominence as the Ashadam month was coming to an end. Most Goddess temples in the twin cities were filled with devotees. Since the beginning, Bonalu was a pompous affair, especially yesterday and today gained more momentum with thousands flocking to the temples. Women clad in silk saris and men accompanying them carried food items to the temple and offered to the Goddess to appease them for a bright future.

On Monday, GHMC Commissioner Krishna Babu visited the Laldarwaja Mahankali Temple and offered his prayers. On his way back he told reporters that this year’s Bonalu festivals had been very peaceful and went on very well.
