KTR Launches Free Drinking Water Scheme In Hyderabad:- Telangana government and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao promised of free drinking water of 20,000 litres per family for the people of the state before the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. KCR said that the scheme would be implemented in stages and will start from December last year. Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, IT and Commerce, Industries, KTR launched the free drinking water scheme in Greater Hyderabad today. The scheme will now be applicable for all the colonies, regions, bastis and the apartments across the limits of GHMC. Each family in the limits will be getting 20,000 litres of drinking water free of cost.

If the consumption exceeds the limit of 20,000 litres, the family would be charged for the extra consumption of water. "Hon’ble CM KCR Garu had promised free water up to 20KL for all households in Hyderabad during the GHMC elections in November, 2020. Today, along with my cabinet colleagues & MLAs will be launching the scheme which will benefit more than 9 lakh households" posted KTR on his twitter handle. The Telangana government informed that it is mandatory to fix water meters in all the apartments in the limits of GHMC.

Ministers Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mallareddy, MLA Maganti Gopinath, Mayor BontuRammohan and Chief Secretary of Government Somesh Kumar are present. KTR announced that the free water scheme will benefit 10.08 lakh families across the twin cities.
