T cong leaders split on quitting posts

T cong leaders split on quitting posts Fed up with the stance of the Home Minister P. Chidambaram on the issue of Telangana, congress MPs, MLAs and some of the ministers of the Telangana area are discussing the possibility of submitting en masse resignations to put pressure on the high command for achieving Telangana.

Chidambaram told the T congress leaders who met him today in Delhi that he was trying his best to hold the all party meeting to achieve consensus on the issue of Telangana but some of the political parties are not cooperating with him.

Angered at this reply of Chidambaram, some of the T congress leaders have reportedly proposed mass resignations and discussed the proposal. However, some others, led by V. Hanumantha rao, are opposing the idea of mass resignations, according to sources. The leaders are scheduled to meet the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee at 8 pm to discuss the Telangana issue. The leaders may discuss their next course of action after meeting Pranab and ascertaining his response on their demand for separate Telangana state.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister who only spoke for 15 minutes with the T congress leaders, later told journalists that his statement of the December 9, 2009 on Telangana was not his own and he made the statement on the instructions of the party and the government.
