Changing his stand on the issue of Telangana, Vijayawada congress MP Mr Lagadapati Rajagopal said today that Hyderabad can be capital for the Telangana state if AP is divided into two states.

 

Lagadapati’s statement gains significance in the backdrop of his recent statement that Hyderabad belonged to everyone and Seema Andhra people are not ready to leave it to the Telangana.  

 

Addressing media persons in Delhi after meeting Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, union minister and in charge of congress party affairs in the state, Rajagopal said that Hyderabad becomes too far to cities like Visakhapatnam and it can’t be capital for Andhra too in case of a division. “Hyderabad will be state capital for Telangana if the state is divided,” he said.

 

Reiterating that the party high command will take a decision on the demand for the formation of the Telangana state, the maverick congress MP said Warangal or Karimnagar could become the state capital of Telangana in case the division is made with the exception of Hyderabad.
