Hamid Ansari geared up for the second term

UPA is all set for the election of the vice president today as the stats estimated are largely in their favor for Hamid Ansari. NDA on the other had has nothing to beat its opponent. The story was no different while going for the highest position in the constitution as President Pranab Mukherjee could bag a victory with great majority.

NDA being represented by Jaswant Singh for the vice president is being supported by AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha and that is the end of the list already.
The favorable numbers would also call for another milestone in the history for Hamid Ansari. After his victory in today's elections he would be the only second person after S Radhakrishnan to continue for two terms.

Rajiv Shukla, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs was confident of the UPA's victory and said that they would repeat the same feat in they achieved in Presidential elections.

NDA was not happy with the seat in Ansari's power as they deemed him incapable with his improper handling of the Lokpal Bill in Rajya Sabha. They have put over their candidate, Jaswant Singh to prevent him merely walking over to power.

"Even if the government's number is high we can't give them a walkover, that's the beauty of democracy," Jayalalithaa said.
The ruling party and the concretion's pride before victory is justified. To be elected the vice president, a winner would be one to have bagged at least 394 votes which would be given by the Electoral College formed from the MPs of Parliament. UPA along with its Allies BSP, SP and other parties in Bihar have over 451 votes already. Ansari also has the support of a large fraction of the Left Front parties and Janata Dal Secular. 16 independent MPs have also decided to vote for Ansari. Another 10 nominated members are also speculated to vote for him.

His opposition,  Jaswant Singh is far from formidable, with only 231 votes after AIADMK supporting him. Biju Janata Dal have chosen to refrain from the polling.
