Plastic notes as pilot project

To put a check to the increasing counterfeit currency, the Reserve Bank of India has working towards releasing plastic notes in the place of present paper notes. As a part of the same, the RBI is all set to introduce these notes as a pilot project at five main centres, said sources. Initially, only RS.10 plastic notes would be introduced. The cities where these notes would be seen are Jaipur, Simla, Bhuvaneshwar, Delhi and Mumbai, said sources.

Well, there are many questions among the financial experts. While the governments in several states banned the use of plastic, will it not be a violation of rule if plastic notes are introduced? Well it might remain a rhetorical question but it's obvious that plastic notes cannot completely replace the present notes with immediate effect although in the long run, the present notes might get vanished in the long run, said experts.
