Morbid Bridge Tragedy Death Toll Reaches 140:- The entire nation was left in shock with the accident of Morbid Bridge that took place last evening in Gujarat. As per the official reports, more than 140 people passed away in the accident that took place in Morbi town at 6:30 PM on Sunday. There are more than 400 people on the bridge that was reopened for public after renovation and repairs. With lot of people climbing the hanging bridge, the Morbid Bridge broke down and landed in the river of Machchhu. The death toll is expected to increase and as per the official word this morning, a total number of 141 people lost their lives. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the families of the deceased. He said that the Centre would support the victims and he spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Twelve family members of BJ Rajkot MP Mohanbhai Kalyani Kundariya passed away in the tragedy including five children. 177 people have been rescued so far. Five NDRF teams along with the Indian Army is carrying out the rescue operations from last night. Morbi bridge is more than 100 years old and it is built on the river of Machchhu. The teams of Indian Army, the Navy, Air Force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), fire brigade and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) working round the clock. The rescue operations continued all over the night and some of them are airlifted. A case has been filed on the contractor and the manager and the investigation is going on. More than 25 ambulances are deployed to the sopt. Rescue boats and live jackets are brought to the spot. Police, local administration, SDRF, Indian Coast Guard and fire department continued the search in the river.
