Supreme Court Orders for an Exclusive Law for Sabarimala

Supreme Court Orders for an Exclusive Law for Sabarimala:- The Supreme Court today asked the Kerala Government to prepare a special law for the management of the Sabarimala temple which landed into several controversies as women of all ages are not allowed to enter into the temple premises. The Supreme Court imposed a strict deadline for Kerala Government to frame the law by the third week of January 2020. Last week, the Justice Ranjan Gogoi had decided to refer the Sabarimala issue to a larger bench to re-examine religious issues.

A petition has been filed by the Pandalam Royal Family to protecttheir rights. The Supreme Court now asked the government to change the laws taking this as an exception. Kerala government told the SC that involving women in temples' administration was part of its liberal push. The dispute came into light first in 2006 after a small dispute started between the temple and a mosque situated near by. Tight security has been imposed from Pamba to Sabarimala shrine after the temple was opened for public.
