Uttam Kumar Appeals To Join Congress And Save Democracy From BJP:- Telangana Congress incharge R.C Kunthia asked professionals to speak the truth about the issues confronting the country. Such issues include demonetisation, faulty implementation of GST and falling growth rates, so that people will get a proper perspective.

The nation would suffer due to the silence of intellectuals and professionals and would be a defect on the parliamentary form of democracy, said Mr. Kunthia, while addressing at the All India Professional Congress conference in Hyderabad on Sunday. Moreover, the professionals were appealed by South India Professional Congress co-ordinator Dr J. Geetha Reddy, to join the Congress so that their intelligence is properly channelled. Geetha Reddy presided over the programme.

The appointment of TPCC general secretary Dasoju Sravan as president of the Professional Congress for Telangana state, was announced by Geetha Reddy. The professionals were also appealed by TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to join the Congress and save democracy, which was under threats under the BJP and TRS governments. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy further added that almost for decades, the professionals had remained associated with the Congress, but in 2014, had drifted to the BJP and Mr Narendra Modi.

Reddy said that the “true colours” of Mr Modi had been realized by them and had started returning to the Congress fold. To take up issues concerning professionals, there was no organization.

Mr Modi and TS Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao were accused by him of throttling democracy and dismantling democratic institutions. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said to carry out propaganda of government schemes, the TS Assembly was being misused and to express its views the Opposition was not getting time. The democratic set-up has been put in grave danger, due to the misuse of Assembly. At the national level even, a similar situation has prevailed, he said.

Congress Will Prioritise Problem-Solving: Uttam

After coming to power in 2019, the Congress would give priority to resolving problems being faced by tribals, promised the TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday. The tribals had failed to get justice, despite several sacrifices.

He said that the STs were lured by promises made by the TRS in 2014, even though they traditionally supported the Congress. As the Chandrasekhar Rao regime placed the community on the non-priority list, their dreams were shattered. As the quota had not been increased from six to nine per cent in proportion with their population, the ST communities had lost thousands of jobs and seats, said Uttam Kumar Reddy, while addressing a meeting organised by the Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi at Nagarjunasagar. With an executive order, this could have been done, said Mr. Uttam Kumar.

To constitute SC and ST commissions, the TRS government had failed and had weakened the mechanism set up to deal with issues concerning Dalits and tribals. The Khammam market yard incident was also referred by him. To recall, as the chilli farmers belonging to the ST communities demanded remunerative prices, they were arrested and handcuffed.

To set up the steel plant at Bayyaram, the government had failed, which could have provided jobs to hundreds of tribals. The Congress would raise the issues of the community in the Assembly session, said Leader of Opposition in the Assembly K. Jana Reddy.
