Strict Action To Be Taken On Doctors Who Performed “Homam” At Gandhi Hospital:- The state government on Tuesday sternly reacted over the incident, where Mruthyunjaya Homam was performed by doctors in Gandhi Hospital on Monday at Gandhi hospital.

The government appointed a five-member committee to look into the ridiculous act. Furthermore, it will take action on the doctors who encouraged the ritual in the hospital based on the decision of the committee. The doctors performed the “Mruthyunjaya Homam”, a vedic ritual. The ritual was done to avoid untimely death at Gandhi Hospital as infant-mother deaths in the ward are bringing a bad name to the hospital in the recent past.

The hospital superintendent Sravan Kumar said, “There is no permission to conduct such kind of performances in the hospital.” On the other hand the head of the Gynecology department, Dr Anupama told the media that they had informed the hospital management about the Homam. She also said that the expenses for the ritual were paid by the hospital doctors.

The “homam” was conducted by four priests and lasted for four hours. Several professors and students also participated in the homam.

However, the Telangana State Convenor of Jana Vignana Vedika termed the act as “illogical”. He said that “the doctors have the responsibility to promote scientific temperament instead they have chosen to promote blind faith.”
