Vijayamma PIL against Naidu, others dismissed

The AP High Court today dismissed the petition of Pulivendula YSR Congress MLA Ms YS Vijayamma seeking CBI probe into the alleged indulgence by former Chief Minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and the favours extended by him to his associates during his regime.

A division bench consisting of justices G. Rohini and Ashutosh Mehta dismissed the petition observing it is not maintainable. “The petition is against natural principles of justice and it doesn’t deserve to be heard as a PIL petition.  Hence, the petition is dismissed,” said the state apex court in its order.

Vijayamma filed the petition on Oct 17 last and the high court ordered initial probe by the CBI and some other state and central government agencies into the decisions of Naidu as CM on Nov 14 last. Later, the petition came up for hearing before two other benches.

Vijayamma cited 13 respondents including Chandrababu Naidu, media baron Ramoji Rao, TDP MP Mr Nama Nageswara Rao, contractor CM Ramesh, actor Muralimohan and others.

Chandrababu and others filed the vacation petition seeking dismissal of her petition and the HC granted interim stay on the probe on Dec 14. The court reserved the judgment and delivered it today.

Vijayamma approached the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the petition to any other high court on the ground that she would not get impartial hearing of her petition in the state high court. But the SC dismissed her petition saying it questioned the credibility of the Indian judiciary. (JUBS)
