Serving the nation with her most melodious voice since she was 13, Lata Mangeshkar has mesmerized billions in the nation and the worldwide. Her voice has aided heroines of several generations. Her presence today in the industry has reduced by large but her dedication to music has not waned with age.

Going strong at 83, Lata has stayed away from the cinema but not from music. A source close to Lata said that she would soon start her own music label to be remembered by the audience for many generations to come.

The launch is expected to be held next month. Talking about India's favorite songstress, a source said, "Lata didi lives for music, and she has been working on this plan for long. Initially, she was to launch her music label this month but due to the big tragedy in the family, it was postponed."

The tragedy of her sister Asha Bhonsle's daughter's suicide has struck both of them greatly. Public appearances have stopped altogether after the incident and the launch had been postponed.

However, a shocker is that the new label is not going to associate itself with the cinema industry. "She has had enough of film songs to her credit. The music label associated with nonfilm songs is entirely her brainchild ", the source added.

The official announcement of the music label, which is expected to be a business enterprise is to come early next month probably before Diwali to accommodate the launch date on the auspicious day.
