NASA Locates Chandrayaan-2's Vikram Lander

NASA Locates Chandrayaan-2's Vikram Lander:- On Tuesday, NASA said that their satellite orbiting the moon found Vikram Lander which carried Chandrayaan-2 crashed on the lunar surface in September this year. NASA also released an image showing the impact site where the Vikram Lander crashlanded on the lunar surface. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) have shown the assiciated debris field along with the parts of the Vikram Lander scattered over almost two dozen locations within a span of several kilometers. "The #Chandrayaan2 Vikram lander has been found by our @NASAMoon mission, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. See the first mosaic of the impact site" posted NASA on their official social media handle.

Shanmuga Subramanian contacted the LRO project with a positive identification of debris. The first piece was found at 750 meters northwest of the main crash site. The Union government on November 20, confirming speculation about the lander’s fate, told the Parliament that it made a “hard landing” on the lunar surface on September 7. Jitendra Singh, Minister of state for space wrote a reply in Lok Sabha said that Vikram Lander hard landed within 500m of the designated landing site. Though ISRO located the lander, it could not establish the communication.
