Driverless fusion hybrid research car from Ford

Have you ever dreamt of roaming the streets of your city in a driverless car. Well, your dreams may be just answered by Ford's Fusion Hybrid research vehicle that was recently unveiled. The car can detect its surroundings, using its sensors, and drive on its own, reported the Verge.

Goal of the company is to test upto what limit full automation can be achieved for the car, said a Ford official. The company also wishesh to determine near- and mid-term deployment at the appropriate levels, the official added. Ford officials reportedly said that most of the automation would not be deployed before 2025, but the company wants to phase in pieces before the full automation is achieved.

Fusion Hybrid research vehicle comes with four whirling, cylindrical Lidar detectors fitted to its roof besides the 360-degree camera. These automated vehicles will prevent collisions, reduce traffic congestion, reduce fuel costs and correct errors in driving, said Ford officials.
