We have all heard rumors about the smaller iPad preparing itself with the weapons and armor to take the tablets in the competition head on but never have we had a specific period during which it would make its presence. Least of all we never have any confirmed source from Apple backing the news.

That is the story until today, Fortune has mentioned that this new mini beast of a tablet, the young brother of the highly acclaimed and the best selling tablet the Apple iPad of all time, Apple iPad Mini would be made public in October. Yes this month!!!! (shrieking like a teenage girl who sees he favorite pop artist).

Philip Elmer DeWitt the writer of the article has quoted that a major Apple investor had been his source.

The article slated that another press invite would be given out to the media on October 10, while the even itself would be on October 17. After unveiling the device, the device would be made available to public for purchase on November 2.

Another strong factor that can confirm the news is the festive season during which Apple generally releases the new models to boost their sales in the US. Analysts believe the time to be right for the device to make it for the Christmas sales in the US.

Earlier reports from Bloomberg mentioned that the screes would be made by AU optronics and LG display.

Rumors quote that the device would be just shy of 8 inches diagonally and approximately 2 inches shorted that the present 9.7 inch iPad at 7.85 inches.

The smaller device has been launched with a view to keep other smaller and cheaper tablets away from the competition, especially with new Kindle Fire HD, Google Nexus 7 and others.
