Atlast Boeing 787 in Air India kitty

Air_India1The much hyped luxury liner Boeing 787 is to be inducted in the national airliner, Air India. As per a decision taken by the Government of India the decks are cleared for the liner to take the delivery of 27 B-787 aircraft. However the manufacturer has to sign a Delay Compensation Settlement Agreement  to make headway in the deal. The most fuel efficient aircraft will benefit the financially troubled airliner much on budgets. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) took the decision in this regards on Friday in Delhi. The aircraft that is re-scheduled to be delivered between June 2012 to March 2016, have been delayed for sometime.

Air_India2Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long-range, mid-size wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner accommodates 210 to 290 passengers, depending on the variants. According to Boeing, the 787 consumes 20% less fuel than the similarly-sized 767. Its distinguishing features include a four-panel windshield, noise-reducing chevrons on its engine nacelles, and a smoother nose contour. The 787 shares a common type rating with the larger 777 twinjet, allowing qualified pilots to operate both models, due to related design features. The first of the B 787 aircraft, entered commercial service on October 26, 2011.
