Sania wins US Open Mixed doubles title

India's Sania Mirza and Brazilian Bruno Soares won the U.S. Open mixed doubles title on Friday, defeating American Abigail Spears and Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico with 6-1, 2-6 and 11-9 score. Sania's win came just a month after she was described by a politician as "Pakistan`s daughter-in-law" and unfit to be a representative of India.

This is Sania's first US Open title. Earlier she won French Open [2012] and Australian Open [2009] with Mahesh Bhupathi. This year too Sania reached Australian Open final but settled on the losing side. Sania and Soares share USD 150,000 price money.
