The Supreme Court on Monday declined to issue a stay on the Polavaram Ordinance that was passed in the Parliament last month. Polavaram Ordinance results in the merge of seven mandals from Khammam district into the divided Andhra Pradesh so as to ease the limitations for the construction of Polavaram multi-irrigation dam.

However, the Apex Court has issued notice to Union, Telangana and AP governments on the petition filed by lawyer Rajendra Reddy. The Supreme Court has decided to add this case along with the bifurcation petitions that were filed earlier.
