KCR stresses on Hyderabad brand June 04, 2014 11:10

The new Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held discussions with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation [GHMC] officials yesterday. In this meeting KCR stunned the GHMC officials and have asked them to submit all the requirements of issues, projects that are needed to completed. As part of election campaign, KCR promised to make the Hyderabad into a world class city, has stressed for more developmental works. KCR also inquired whether the GHMC officials are ready for the Monsoon as sewage water gets blocked causing troubles to the general public. He ordered the officials to come up with detailed report in a week time which would benefit for the long term. Deputy CM Mohammed Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy and Chief Secretary were also present in the meeting. (AW: Vamshi)

Communal clashes hit the city May 14, 2014 14:45

After a huge gap communal clashes hit the Hyderabad city yet again. Adjacent to the Old City near Sikh Chawni near Bahadurpura few wrongdoers burnt the religious flags in the early hours of Wednesday. Two young brats were attacked by the community members in this flag burning incident and then tension spread allround the region. Cyberabad Police Commissioner has deployed Armed Police and Paramilitary forces at the area and the situation was brought in control. The police had to do firing and around three people were killed in the police firing. The police have arranged pickets in other parts of the Old city to make sure the communal fight doesn't spread. Metro Trainset arrives May 13, 2014 13:22

The trainset for Hyderabad Metro project have arrived at the Chennai port earlier this morning. Speaking on the occasion Anand said, “with Rupees six crores CCTVs have been installed at highly sensitive areas and nine new check posts will be established in next month.” With Abhaya rape incident, Traffic department is leaving no stone to bring down the crime in cyber city. Anand also clarified that, action against unregistered cabs will be severe and to identify the registered one’s special stickers will be pasted on the cabs. Holiday on Polling day April 20, 2014 11:31

The Labour Department is likely to issue notice regarding a shut down on polling day in the Hyderabad city. The notice with instructions to effect that all centres of business activity including shopping malls remain shut till 6 p.m. on April 30th. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO), Somesh Kumar, said the instructions would be implemented strictly and those found violating the guidelines will be punished. Under section 31 [2] of A.P. Shops and Establishments Act and every business activity will be closed and the GHMC will be roped flying squads to monitor each constituency. Army justifies blockage of roads February 25, 2014 10:58

The Army authorities are in no mood to compromise on the blockage of roads passing through AOC Centre from February 25. The Army has imposed a ban on traffic moving from SP Road/East Marredpally towards Allahabad Gate (Entrencement Road), from Secunderabad Club, Picket/West Marredpally towards Wellington Enclave (Wellington road), from Safilguda junction towards Safilguda railway crossing (Ordnance Road) and Mornington Road from February 25 and from March 10 these ways will be permanently shut. The Police department and Army officials have held discussions on Monday evening but they failed to come to a solution. Meanwhile, the residents are worried and also have protested on Sunday against the Army's ban. General Officer Commanding of Andhra Sub Area, Major General C A Pithawala said, “with heavy traffic on these roads, our training sessions are getting disturbed and we are left with the only option of banning these ways.” With no solution in talks of the authorities, Army has decided to go ahead with its ban. 2 hours power cut in city from today February 08, 2014 10:38

The Central Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh (CPDCL) has officially announced the power cut schedules from today in the Hyderabad city. CPDCL has divided the city into four groups and the power cut will implemented simultaneously in all the four regions. However all the power cuts are schedule before 2 PM itself and the power will be cut in two spells of one hour each. With Rabi season going on there is a gap of 20 to 30 millions units of power shortage and this has forced the CPDCL to go for power cuts. But there are huge power cuts in districts, Municipalities and mandal headquarters. A power cut of four, six and eight hours has  scheduled in the above mention regions respectively. (AW: Vamshi)

Auto fares hiked, to burn common man's pocket January 22, 2014 17:50

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has accepted the demands of Auto Unions who are on strike for the past four days. With the clearing of demands, Auto Unions have called off their strike on Tuesday night and are back in business. Over 16 Auto Unions participated in strike which hit the common man to the core especially women and school children. The revised minimum auto fare is now Rupees 20 and tariff per kilometer has been hiked from Rupees 9 to 11. This new meter fares are expected to come into force in the first week of February month. However, the government was not in favor of rolling out the penality of Rupees 1000 for traffic violation.

Indira Park to undergo renovation January 11, 2014 13:33

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has moved its wings to renovated the city's oldest park. The 70 acre Indira Park at Lower Tank Bund will be seen with more facilities like fresh pathways, clean toilets etc in coming days and GHMC has already started its work. A rose garden, Palmatum and shade garden works are currently in progress. 400 palms chosen from 50 to 60 varieties have been already planted and to encourage the biodiversity about 70 varieties of indigenous trees  were planted so far. As people turn up more numbers for morning walk from the surrounding areas, GHMC took special interest in restoring the pathway and toilets. However, the management of Indira park claims to have less manpower. One of the officials said, “to maintain such huge park, we need atleast 100 members but currently we have only 45. We have placed a request at GHMC and hopefully they might approve.”

Town Planning in online January 07, 2014 09:40

The Great Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Town Planning department will get launched online from January 20th. This move by GHMC came as to maintain transparency and also to ensure that citizens’ applications were not delayed unnecessarily. Speaking on it GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the online service would allow an applicant to furnish all the details, upload required maps for seeking building and other permissions. The fee payment could be either made online through credit/debit card or through demand draft at Mee Seva centres. GHMC is firm with its officials as any delay in process by any of the staff, it would penalize the concern staff with Rs 50 per day. Hyderabad's most favorite exhibition Numaish went underway yesterday evening. Usually Andhra Pradesh CM would launch the event but this time the Exhibition Society of Hyderabad board did not invite CM Kiran for his anti Telangana stand. Instead, IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah graced the opening event as chief guest. The 45 days along schedule exhibition has 2500 stalls this year and the Exhibition Society took extra care about the facilities in Numaish this time.  Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnala said, “Hyderabad is best destiny now in India.
