Nirbhaya Case: One More Convict Files Curative Petition

Nirbhaya Case: One More Convict Files Curative Petition:- The Nirbhaya convicts have been awarded death sentence but they are trying their best to push away the punishment. After February 1st, the Delhi Court awarded hanging for all the convicts on March 3rd at 6 AM. Now, one of the four convicts, Pawan Kumar Gupta moved to the Supreme Court and filed a curative plea today. He sought a commutation of the death penalty that was announced by the Delhi Court. He wanted the top court to stay the death penalty. His counsel AP Singh said that the death penalty should not be awarded to Pawan Kumar Gupta.

Pawan Kumar Gupta is the only convict who did not get his legal remedies exhausted to file a curative petition and subsequent mercy plea with the President. All the four convicts Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Kumar Sharma (26) and Akshay Kumar (31) are awarded death warrants on February 17th in the Nirbhaya murder and rape case. Six people, including the four convicts and a juvenile, were named as accused. One of the accused Ram Singh already committed suicide. The juvenile was released in 2015 after spending three years of punishment.
