Nirbhaya Case: Tihar Jail Waiting For A New Execution Date:- Despite of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya convicts announced death sentence, the punishment was delayed. The mercy petition of the last accused Pawan Kumar Gupta has been rejected by President Ram Nath Kovind today and the accused are now left with no options. The Supreme Court already dismissed the curative petition of Pawan Gupta after which he appealed for mercy plea. Gupta along with the other three accused was scheduled to be hanged on March 3rd but it got delayed after he filed a curative petition in the court.

With the development, the Tihar jail authorities moved to Delhi Court to announce a fresh date for the execution of hanging for the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case. The court clarified that the matter will be heard tomorrow at 2 PM. The court announced that all the four convicts should be hanged at the same time because of which the process got delayed. All the mercy petitions of the convicts are now exhausted. Apart from these four, the other accused Ram Singh committed suicide in the jail and the other was a juvenile. The Nirbhaya incident took place in December 2012 and it created a sensation across the country.
