Congress Vice president To Visit Telangana On June 1

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi would visit Telangana on June 1 on the eve of the state formation day.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan said, “Gandhi will address a massive public meeting, called “Telangana Praja Garjana” at Sangareddy town, neighboring Hyderabad, at 4 pm on June 1.”

Telangana came into existence as the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014.

Gandhi will also release a “Charge sheet” against the failures of TRS government during the last three years in the state. The TPCC chief said people have elected new governments in the country and the state in 2014 elections with high hopes. However, both BJP government at the Centre and TRS government in Telangana, have disappointed the common man with their poor performance and failure to deliver on tall promises they made. He further stated that corruption, dictatorial attitude, arrogance of power and wrong propaganda against the Opposition have become the trademarks of TRS government.

The TPCC Chief said that, “It is a known fact that TRS is acting as a secret ally of BJP. However, the TS CM KCR has completely failed to get any assistance from the Centre for the TS and he himself miserably failed to resolve the problems being faced by the people in the state.”

Telangana is now listed in the second position with high number of farmer suicides. The TRS government kept the farmers hooked to their loans by not waiving off their crop loans. Currently, lakhs of peasants are suffering from denial of remunerative prices for their crops. The state government instead of helping them, has implicated the farmers in fake cases, got them arrested and were further humiliated by bringing them to court in hand-cuffs, pointed out the TPCC chief.

Mr. Reddy said thousands of farmers also faced harassment and intimidation when they refused to part with their lands, due to the non-implementation of the Land Acquisition Act 2013. The Congress would approach the Supreme Court against the new land acquisition Act of the state government and would insist only on the implementation of the Land Acquisition Act 2013. He also slammed the TRS government for its failure to provide promised jobs to the unemployed youth in the state.

The government has intentionally delayed the increase in quota for Scheduled Tribes from 6% to 9%. No special legislation was required to increase the quota for STs, proportionate to their population, added Mr. Reddy. The STs consequently lost their share in jobs and education for three years. Similarly, the SCs quota was not enhanced, he said. And also the KCR government was misleading the Muslim community on 12% quota and other promises.

Mr. Reddy alleged that the KCR government instead of developing Telangana, remained focus on strengthening the TRS by engineering defections of elected representatives of the Opposition to the ruling party, during the last three years,

The list of failures of TRS government was too long and the same would be revealed in the public meeting, to be addressed by Mr Gandhi at Sangareddy on June 1. Congress senior leaders, including P Balram Naik, Damodar Raja Narasimha, M Anjan Kumar Yadav, Dasoju Shravan, Anil Kumar Yadav and others were present in the conference.
