Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 Notes Burnt in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh

A day after the government gave a shock by announcing the withdrawal of Rs.500 and 1000 notes a shocking incident has taken place. Bags filled with notes were burnt in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

"The burnt Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes were reportedly taken in sacks and then discarded by workers of a company on Parsa Kheda road at CB Ganj in Bareilly," sources said.

Police officials said, "the notes appeared to have been cut, damaged and then burnt."

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials were informed about the incident. The police took the remains of the currency notes.

"We are examining the burnt notes to check for their authenticity," said Senior Superintendent of Bareilly, Joginder Singh.
