Cabinet papers on Netaji made public

Cabinet papers on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose have been made public by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee.

Right from the day, Netaji files are declassified, many unknown facts came out. So the  Bengal government asked the Centre to declassify the rest of the files. But the Centre said that, many files are with the other countries and upon getting back those, it assured the declassification.
 
Meanwhile, Mamatha Banerjee, who is stressing upon maintaining the transparency of Netaji files, now made the cabinet papers on Netaji and allied subjects from 1938 to 1947.  

Responding to the release of the cabinet papers into the public, Mamatha said that, “Those papers may be confidential in the pre independent India, but not today. The need to bring them out has arised and so we made it public.”
 
Along with the cabinet papers, Mamatha even released a CD, which contained the information of 401 cabinet meeting papers during that period, which had witnessed among other events like ‘Quit India’ movement, the great ‘Bengal Famine’ and Partition of Bengal.
        
In the past, Mamatha government has declassified 64 Netaji files and currently all those papers are available in the state archive, state information centre and state central library. The researchers, historians or any sort of public, who are interested to know about Netaji death mystery, can go through the files.   

As of now, 1938 to 1947 cabinet papers are released and the next ten years, i.e, 1947 to 1956 cabinet papers are in the process of digitization and will be released soon.    

Mamatha is hiding few Netaji files – Netaji family members

On one side, Mamatha is stressing upon the transparency and declassifying the files and cabinet meeting papers, on the other side, Netaji family members are opining that, Mamatha might be hiding some key files about Netaji death mystery.

However, Netaji’s grand-nephew Chandra Bose said, “This is a very bold step and the family is very happy with her (Mamata Banerjee) decision. She is proving that her government is a transparent one.”
