Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi rose the border issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping and stressed on the need to resolve the border dispute quickly and clarify the Line of Actual Control [LAC]. After discussing on several issues and opportunities for nearly one and half hour, both the prime persons of the two countries addressed the media.
Speaking first, Narendra Modi said, “Respect for each other's sensitivities and concerns and, peace and stability in our relations and along our borders are essential. Our border CBMs (Confidence Building Measures) have helped but I have also suggested that for peace and stability, we need to clarify LAC. This has been held up for many years and needs to be restarted .”
The Chinese counter partner responded in a similar way and opined that border issue should have large impact on the bilateral issues of the country. However, Xi Jinping added that China will sincerely work for a peaceful solution in the border issue.
Yesterday in Chumar, 1,000 Chinese soldiers crossed the border and allegedly brought in in heavy construction equipment and a large labour force to set up a road up to the border.
