Prime Minister Assures Detailed Study on KWDT Verdict

The all party delegation from Andhra Pradesh led by the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has met the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to submit a memorandum on the injustice done to the people of the state by the verdict of the Justice Brijesh Kumar let Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal (KWDT). The delegation explained the intricate points in the Tribunal’s final verdict that does a lot of injustice to the state and requested the Central Government to intervene to get it rectified.

The Prime Minister assured that the verdict of KWDT will be made studied by the Irrigation Commission.  He has ordered for the detailed study on it to see that justice is done. The Prime Minister said that as the Supreme Court has given stay on it, still there is time for doing something on it.  But, PM said, if the stay is vacated by the Supreme Court there is nothing the Government can do about it.

The delegation also requested the Prime Minister that the Government of India should defend the case in the Supreme Court on behalf of AP.
