Devasting Rains in the State

Heavy rains with continuous downpour though out the State disrupted normal life.  Vehicular traffic became stand still at many places due to the floods.  News is coming of collapsed houses, drowned agricultural produce, tumbled and capsized buses and trucks, cancelled or diverted trains and RTC buses caught up in the flood waters.  

The weather reports say that more rain can be expected in coming 24 hours.  

Rice crop in 150000 acres and cotton in 59000 acres are drowned in the rain and flood waters.  Even the produce transported to market yards also was drenched.  

Ongole recorded maximum rain fall. Normal life is disrupted in the cities of Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Ongole, Guntur and Kurnool.

The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy talked to the Principal Secretary Mohanty to know about the flood condition.  He is going to hold a high level meeting at 12.00 pm today to review the situation.  

TDP President Chandra Babu also talked to the Principal Secretary and requested him to arrange rescue operations by helicopters to shift stranded civilians in Prakasam district to safer places.
