17 die in Uttarkhand

The death toll in Uttarkhand due to heavy rains and floods and landslides reached 17.

The torrential rains that caused the rocks roll over the roads blocked the movement of the Chardham pilgrims.  About 41000 pilgrims are caught in the calamity.  The Government of Uttarakhand closed Chardham pilgrimage.

About 400 piligrims from Andhra Pradesh are stranded at Bishanpur and for the last three days facing hardships there.

After making the requests to the State Government of Uttarakhand, after getting assurance from them of taking care of the pilgrims of the State and after knowing that even helicopters cannot reach there at the present situation, the TDP MLA Devineni Uma commenting on the plight of the Andhra Pradesh tourists, without suggesting what should be done, questioned what our Union Tourism Minister is doing- sleeping?
