Major train accident averted by rag-picker

A major train accident was averted today after a 10-year old boy alerted the authorities about a crack in the railway tracks near Mandavalli railway crossing in Delhi.

The rag picker had alerted the railway authorities minutes before the super fast Patna-Delhi Rajadhani Express was scheduled to arrive on the same track. Based on the boy’s words, the authorities signaled the high speed train to stop and then inspected the spot.

The authorities immediately called the maintenance staff and repaired the crack in an hour. The train was allowed to proceed further only after the repair works undertaken.

Authorities later thanked the boy for averting a major mishap and saving the lives of several passengers.  (JUBS)
