In a major victory for the pro-Telangana leaders and activists, AICC official spokesman Mr Rashid Alwi clarified today that the proposal to constitute the second States Reorganization Commission (SRC) is not linked to the Telangana issue.

Addressing a media conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi, he said Telangana issue is entirely different and the congress policy of favoring the constitution of second SRC has no relation to it.

“Telangana issue is unique and we can’t link it up with the idea of constituting second SRC mooted with regard to the division of UP,” he said.

It might be said Mr Alwi has recently announced that congress party would go by its policy of advocating second SRC with regard to the division of UP and said the same can be applied to the issue of Telangana also.

The statement has created uproar among the pro-Telangana activists and leaders and this might have forced the congress high command to reverse its stand.
